Steps – How To Clean Ceramic Bearings
You will thereafter have to follow the procedures we have explained in the following discussions. You will have to put on the various protective attires such as gloves, eye protection, and aprons. This is because most of the chemicals involved in this procedure are toxic and likely to cause burns and other harms.
#1 Remove the Non-contact Rubber Shield and Cage
Start by removing the non-contact rubber shield and the cage which jointly encloses the bearings. This, of course, is to gain access to the interior segments of the ceramic bearings. Use a knife or a prying tool to do so.
Exercise a great deal of gentleness and caution to prevent damaging the delicate parts and inflicting injuries on you. Place them aside and in an enclosed area. They are prone to loss or damages and should thus be treated with utmost care.
#2 Clean the Bearing and Ball Retainers
This is the crux of the entire procedure. You should clean the bearings and the ball retainers. To do so, soak them first and foremost in a de-greasing solution such as acetone or pure alcohol. Leave it overnight to ensure that all the grease have been removed completely.
After they are completely soaked, get them out. Use the cleaning brush to gently get rid of the remaining dirt. Be cautious not to spray the debris far and wide. This might harm those around you like small children.
Place the bearings in fresh chemicals and shake gently so as to remove any extra grease. Replace the dirty solution over and over again. The aim is to leave behind the fresh and clean solution. This is the only sign that the bearings are thoroughly cleaned.

#3 Dry and Lubricate the Bearings
Leave the bearings out in the open to dry. Do not touch them until they are completely dry. Yu might inflict additional dirt and spoil issues further. After you are fully convinced the bearings are fully dried out, lubricate them. Apply the lubricating oil gently to the joints and other movable parts and components. Do the same to the retainers as well.
#4 Reinstall the Cage and the Rubber Shields
Now proceed to re-assemble the parts and components you had separated. To do so, spread out the balls evenly using paper clips. Proceed thereafter to assemble the ball retainers. Be sure that the ball retainers fall back in place and perfectly well for that matter. In case there are some parts that are worn out, this is the time to replace them.
#5 Test the Setup
Now test the assembly to ascertain its efficacy. Subject the new ceramic bearing to some kind of impact or force. Watch and observe how the bearings respond to these impacts. In case the assembly is weak, you may have to strengthen the weaker parts. This may require a complete disassembly and re-assembly. Do so repeatedly till you obtain the desired outcomes.
